Syrah 2019 – Tierra Alta Vineyard, Ballard Canyon
This Syrah has both old and new world attributes, lighter in body with just-ripe black plum flavors, red currants, lavender, rose petals and pink peppercorns. New world fruit but still light and vibrant on the palate.
Food/flavor pairings: Santa Maria Style BBQ: tri-tip marinated in ginger, garlic and soy sauce. No sweet BBQ sauce, just let the flavor of the meat take center-stage. Could be on a mini potato roll to mimic a tri-tip sandwich with the stone fruit chutney.
